So after 3000 miles of driving, we were beyond excited to start seeing milage signs on the interstate telling us how far San Diego was! I think the first sign said, "San Diego 120 miles". We both just looked at each other in silence as the awe of being so close after such a long trip sank in! Then it was "San Diego 90 miles" and so on until we got our first glimpse of the ocean after coming through some mountain passes. It was such an incredible feeling to know in just a few short hours I would get to HUG my parents! No more Zoom or FaceTime but actually get to see them in person after almost 9 months! As you know Covid has kept so many families apart and it has been so difficult to not be with them. And no less exciting was to get to see my brother, Bill and his new wife Brenda! Scooby even got to meet their cute dog Eddie and have some fun "dog time"!

Just to recap, here is our journey so far:

There have been so many fun, beautiful and interesting places we have seen along the way, along with some pretty boring stretches! Bob did all the driving while I was the faithful navigator, reservation maker and meal planner!

We did enjoy one last stop before San Diego and that was a night at Joshua Tree National Park. A really interesting and unique place. We took a long drive through the park and admired the "trees" and landscape. It was a beautiful Sunday and therefore the park was really busy. We saw many people rock climbing and thought of Mary and Ty! We planned to do some short hikes but decided against them due to the crowds and trying to stay "social distanced" since seeing my parents!

It will be strange to stay in one spot for 2 weeks now. We are at a nice park called Campland on the Bay. It's only about 10 min. to my parents place and right on the water. We took a nice walk along Shelter Island and then picked up some fresh grouper to take to my parents house to grill for dinner.

We paid some guys to come out and wash and wax Cousin Eddy. After 3000 miles the RV was pretty dusty and dirty!! Bob is already working on some improvements for our RV. I thought my poor brother might need to rent a storage unit for all the packages Bob ordered along our trip. But this should keep him nice and busy during our stay!

It is hard to believe we drove all this way but also so exciting to be here and get to relax and just enjoy some family time! And it's been a long time since spending a Thanksgiving with my parents. We have much to be thankful for this year!
