To Have and to Hold

We arrived in Boise, excited that the wedding was 10 days away. We settled into our "home" for our stay at the Boise KOA. It was a nice campground and only about 10 miles from Mary and Ty's house.

We had a busy 10 days full of preparations for the wedding. One of the first things was Mary and I went and got our hair done. After several months of being on the road, I was in dire need of a cut and color!

We stayed very busy those 10 days, running errands and finishing up things needed for the wedding. Even Hudson gave us his attention!

Mary and I went for her final dress fitting and it was so special to FaceTime with my mom and dad, who were not going to be able to make the wedding!

We set aside wedding tasks one evening and enjoyed a round of disk golf.

Boise has an abundance of great hikes and bike rides and we managed to slip in several of those! It was great to get a few days alone with Mary and Ty as pretty soon family and friends starting arriving!

The rest of the week just flew by with activities! Here are the highlights of each day of "wedding week":

Tuesday: We started the day at a nice downtown restaurant called The Fork. We had brunch with Ty's parents and his sister and her boyfriends. That evening we enjoyed a fun bus ride on "Whimsey"! Fiends of ours, Randy and Jackie Langley have this amazing double decker bus and they took us all for a scenic ride through downtown Boise. We finished the evening with ice cream!

Wednesday: Mary and I enjoyed a fun morning at a beautiful spa where we both got a message and then had our nails done! Elizabeth and Tyler arrived that afternoon and we all met up for dinner at Payette Brewing Company.

Thursday: We dropped Scooby off with a dog sitter before heading up to Stanley, ID, the location for the wedding. The wedding was held at Redfish Lake Lodge. The setting was perfect...... A beautiful lake with gorgeous views of the Sawtooth Mountains. A very special location for Mary and Ty as they had gotten engaged near there last summer. We all had separate cabins on the property and we're able to walk to all the weekends activities. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the lodge with all our "Cashiers friends". Bob and I were truly blessed by all our friends and family that traveled so far to spend this special weekend with us. Every evening seemed to end in the lodge bar playing darts!

Friday: We started the morning off with a Bridal Bruch at the lodge. A special time of fellowship for Mary and her bridesmaids and family. The hostess have know Mary almost her entire life!

The next activity of the day was the rehearsal. We all met at the wedding site for a walk through of the ceremony. That was followed by a beautiful dinner hosted by Lori and Scott Martin.

Saturday (THE BIG DAY). Wow...finally after months of planning and preperations the wedding day was here. Mary had been telling me all along that she was hoping for snow on the mountains, so no big surprise when we woke up to a beautiful dusting of snow on the mountain tops!

The girls had a busy morning of getting our hair and makeup professionally done!

I loved our special mother/daughter time! (the following photos are all by the amazing Caleb Timmerman)

Bob stopped by for his “first look” of the bride.... an emotional moment!

While the girls got ready Ty and his groomsmen also spent some time together.

And before you knew it, it was time to head over to the beach area for the wedding.

To say the wedding was perfect and beautiful is an understatement so I'll just let the photos speak for themselves! There were so many special memories from that day. And so emotional to watch our daughter pledge to share her life with the love of her life!

And then a fantastic reception followed.

Sunday: The last official event of the weekend was an informal brunch at the lodge. It was a time of say goodbye to friends and family as many were heading back to Boise to catch flights home. The amazing weekend was coming to a close. But the memories of the weekend will last a lifetime. Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs. Martin. We love you both.
