The Lakes!

From the mountains of southern Utah we drove south into northern Nevada. We decided to try and closely follow the Colorado River with our next destination being Lake Mead. We camped for 3 nights at the Lake Mead RV Village inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. We had a "lake view" spot but with the lake being so low we were actually about 1/2 mile from the shoreline!

The long distance to the lake made for a great morning walk and Scooby loved chasing all the rabbits he saw, never deterred by how much faster they are then he is!! Scooby also ended up getting a "bath" outside the RV to try and remove all the dust he was accumulating.

We took a really fun bike ride one day along the Historic Railroad Trail that takes you through some cool tunnels and you end up at Hoover Dam. They used this line to bring in supplies to build the dam.

We also enjoyed a day going into the cute town of Boulder City about 10 miles from where we were camping. Found a great brewery for lunch, a nice grocery store and BEST of all I got a MUCH needed manicure and pedicure! I was afraid they might charge double to remove over a months worth of camping grime!!

From Lake Mead RV Village we moved south only about 30 miles...still within the Lake Mead NRA. We stayed 2 nights at Willow Beach Campground. A really nice, small and quiet spot on the Colorado River.

We rented a boat one day and went up the river as far as we could go, almost back to Hoover Dam. It was beautiful going through the canyons and we even saw 2 big horn sheep on the hills!!

From there we headed into Arizona to Lake Havasu. We found a great spot on the river just south of Lake Havasu City called Foxs RV Resort. We liked our spot so much we decided to stay for 4 nights before our final push into California.

The weather has been beautiful and warm! We enjoyed a nice bike ride around an island and ended up near London Bridge. Who knew there was a London Bridge in Arizona?! Click on the link to read the amazing story.

We head out of here tomorrow to visit Joshua Tree National Park and then into San Diego! I am SO excited to see my parents! Thinking of my dad and everyone that has served our country today on Veterans Day!
