We arrived one week ago and have hit the ground running. The first week of our two week stay just flew by. We are really enjoying our camping spot at Campland on the Bay. Just a short distance is a great trail around the bay that is perfect for either walking or bike riding.

Just about every morning we have done one or the other and sometimes both! Our site is nice and shady compared to many of the sites that are more of a "parking lot" type of thing. It's been pretty quiet here but getting a lot busier as Thanksgiving draws near.

Our days are filled mainly with spending time with my parents at the house they are staying at. They are late sleepers so we usually don't go over there until about 12:30pm. Mornings are spent here at the campground. After our walk or ride, we have been getting projects done. Actually that is really Bob doing the projects! He is installing a water purification system and also a cell phone booster to help when we are in more remote locations. He has several other improvements he is working on and seems to always be needing a trip to Home Depot! Once we make it to my parents we have some lunch and then they like to go to Shelter Island for a stroll.

It's a beautiful place to go as you can watch all the boats and also some great views of downtown San Diego.

Dinners have been at their place with many of the nights having my brother and sister in law joining us. We sit out on the patio which also has a beautiful view of San Diego. We will mix it up a bit and are having Thanksgiving dinner at Bill and Brenda's house. Thankfully they knew of a great restaurant that is preparing takeout Thanksgiving dinners.....so none of us will be doing any cooking! Yippee!
Scooby has loved getting to spend time with Bill and Brenda's dog Eddie and looks forward to the evenings when he comes over to hang out.

The house my parents are staying at seems to have a pretty steady stream of critters in the nearby canyon so we are keeping a close watch on them as they would just love to sneak off and head into the canyon!
Scooby also has fallen in love with "Grammy and Papa" and runs into their house barking and looking for each of them. It's really cute to see.

Otherwise he is being a lazy dog when back at the RV.

My niece Kara is a hair dresser and I was SO grateful to get in to see her! My hair was in dire need of a cut and color. One of the challenges of being on the road so long.

On Sunday we went out for a nice ride on my brothers boat. No better way to see San Diego than from the water!

I was also able to visit with my childhood friend Jill and her husband Jimmy! It's been a great week and looking forward to one more here. We leave San Diego on Monday to head back home to North Carolina. We plan to go the southern route of I-10 most of the way to stay in nicer weather. We will not take near as much time going back as it's getting close to Christmas and we want to be in our house for the holidays! I'll give you an update of our planned routes and stops in the next blog. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
