Ketchum If You Can!

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

After leaving Yellowstone we headed west and finally entered into Idaho! We were spending a few days in Ketchum. This would be our last stop before meeting up with Mary and Ty. Ketchum is better known for the ski resort there known as Sun Valley.

We stayed at Meadows RV Park just outside of town and while nothing special as parks go it was conveniently located on their wonderful bike path that can take you just about anywhere!

One day we took a pretty drive up to a lake called Pettit Lake. It was one of many alpine lakes in the area and they are all so beautiful. I've never seen such clear, blue water in a lake!

With all the camping, Scooby was pretty dirty. We found a place called The Laundromutt! Bob gave Scooby and shampoo and blow dry. Scooby was not too happy about all of this, but came out smelling so good and clean!

We enjoyed our few days in Ketchum. It was nice to relax a bit after the hectic pace of sightseeing in the Tetons and Yellowstone. Of course we had to visit the local brewery!

After leaving Ketchum we began our drive to Stanley Lake Campground for a weekend of camping with Mary and Ty. On the way we went over a 9,000' pass. The fall colors and views were amazing:

We arrived at the campground and eagerly awaited the arrive of Mary and Ty along with their 2 dogs, Hudson and Ellie. The campground was so pretty. No hookups for the RV but the views were worth it. We decided to take an afternoon paddle while we waited for them to arrive.

Mary, Ty and dogs arrived Friday night and we had such a fun weekend. They took us into the town of Stanley and also Redfish Lodge, which is the site of their wedding! I had actually seen this over the summer but Bob had not, so it was really fun to walk around the grounds.

To say the dogs had fun playing is an understatement.

We had a very peaceful weekend of camping. Mary and Ty enjoyed a nice paddle on the lake, we took some pretty drives and just enjoyed evenings of dinner and campfires at our site.

We even saw a moose:

After a fun weekend we packed up and got ready to head to Boise, where we will be around to help Mary and Ty with what ever they need to get done before the wedding. Also just looking forward to some time with them before the masses show up for the big event! We enjoyed on last look out our RV window at Stanley Lake and said good-bye for just a few short weeks until we return for the wedding. However, next time instead of camping with no hook ups, we will be staying at the beautiful Redfish Lodge!

I did want to mention that my 91 year old mom has been in the hospital in San Diego. They think she had a heart attack and she ended up in surgery to put a stint in. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride with her as one day she seems better and then next day she seems worse. I've thought about flying down there for a few days but because of Covid they are only letting one visitor a day see her for 2 hours. So if I went then my dad can't see her that day! Thank goodness they have learned how to FaceTime so all of us have been able to call and see/talk with her. I would ask that you all keep Libby in your prayers! Our plan has always been to go to San Diego after the wedding and our time will be flexible then. We can stay as long as needed. Oh I sure love the freedom of retirement! The photo below was taken this past spring when we were visiting San Diego:

Well, hard to believe that my next blog will be from Boise and during "wedding preparation" week! EXCITED!
