It's Never Easy Leaving!

Here we are on the eve of leaving for a 2 1/2 month cross country adventure. It has been a whirlwind last few weeks! We closed on both of our businesses only 10 days ago. That in and of itself was a roller coaster ride of ups and downs including one of our buyers being attacked by a shark in the Florida Keys 4 days before closing. Folks....you can not make this stuff up...Google the story yourself. Thankfully, Andrew is doing much better but still needing at least one more surgery, so keep him and his family in your prayers!

The details of closing our business and preparing for the journey have at times been a bit overwhelming, but both Bob and I felt it would be best to leave shortly after closing to not only help with the transition for our employees to the new owners, but for us emotionally to just get away and have a chance to relax, reflect and rejoice in this new chapter of our lives. It has been a way more emotional time then I anticipated but we did live at and raise our family at Laurelwood Inn for 25 years. And Whiteside Brewing was Bob's creation and baby. We have loved our life there but felt it was the perfect time to move on when the buyers came knocking at our door!

Last night we spent an evening with our closest friends....couples we have know for almost all 25 years of living in Cashiers. What a special send off these dear friends gave us. Today found us trying to cross off all the items on our "to do" list! I was set behind when it was decided that Scooby needed to revisit the vet! He has had a throat infection that doesn't seem to want to go away. Praying we can keep this under control!

I will end on my packing dilemma! You see, we will be encountering weather every where for high 80's to lows in the 30's. We will not only be camping but visiting family for the Thanksgiving holiday. It has been painful to pack and make tough decisions on what to bring in the limited RV closet space. Bob flatly refused to give me his half of the closet! But the decisions are made, the RV is loaded and tomorrow we leave for our slow trip to San Diego! Next blog will be about our anticipated route and places we want to see!

Can’t wait to see you both! Tell Bob I’ve been making a Wad’s House Fix-it List, and it’s 5-miles long,! Hopefully he has tools in the motor home. I’m sure by the time you arrive, he’ll be scratching to fix

Something! 😝
