Well, we have enjoyed a nice summer mostly in Cashiers, where the daily highs tend to be around 70 degrees. No better place to be in the summer than our beautiful mountains! I did take one trip out west but that was by plane and not the RV! My first stop was in Boise, ID to see where Mary and Ty had moved to and help with some wedding preparations. There was a wedding gown fitting, cake tasting, and many fun projects to keep us busy and inside during the heat wave they were experiencing!
From Boise, I flew to San Diego and enjoyed a week with my family. My mom had just turned 91 and my dad about to turn 93 so it was great to get to spend some time with them. Laura flew in from SLC and we enjoyed some nice "sister time" staying together for the week. Bill and Brenda live there, so it was wonderful to be together.
Right now we are in full blown preparations for our next big RV trip. We plan to be gone close to 3 months, leaving towards the end of August and returning before the holidays. We are headed west again, this time a bit more of a northern route taking us eventually to Boise, ID for Mary and Ty's wedding in October. After the wedding we will head south to San Diego to visit my parents, since they will not make the trip to ID for the wedding. From San Diego we will head east on a southern route back home.
In preparation for the trip, Bob has been busy with some RV upgrades and remodeling. This is a current photo and a bit hard to believe it will be ready in a few weeks but he assures me it will! He has been busy with repairs and upgrades but the biggest project is redoing the cabinets over the kitchen sink. The cabinets were deep making it hard to lean over the sink to wash dishes. So he's replacing (with help from our cabinet making friend, Doug Ramsey) the cabinet with a more shallow one. One other nice upgrade is switching out our TV to a smart TV which will make it easier to use. We have a new sound system so the area under the TV is being converted into a nice big drawer.
I've been spending my time going through every drawer, cabinet and closet in the RV and "decluttering". It's amazing all the things you start to accumulate over time that you don't really need or use. I've also been spending time planning our route, making reservations and reading up on some of our "big stops" such as Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Yosemite, and Sequoia. We are getting more and more excited to "hit the road" and will do my best to write some blogs. I enjoy writing them not only so you all can see what we are doing, but it makes such a fun travel log for us to look back on!
